One important factor for an artificial turf field is the water permeability of the surface. With a double ring infiltrometer you are able to determine the infiltration rate. This is a relative simple but effective device. The rate of infiltration is measured as the quantity of water that penetrates in a certain surface of soil in relation to time. Since water has the tendency to run away laterally the outer ring functions as a separation. The measurement is done in the inner ring as the water penetrates vertically here.
